We call ourselves Point 1 Mass Timber…..BUT…..you might ask - What is Mass Timber?
As the world, Governments & Business look to tackle climate change the demand for low carbon sustainable materials grows. Mass Timber offers a perfect substitute for traditionally used construction materials such as Concrete & Steel.
As the engineered timber has gained popularity as a sustainable construction material – ‘Mass timber’ has emerged as a term to describe a set of engineered timber products. Typically, CLT (Cross Laminated Timber), GLT (Glued Laminated Timber) & LVL (Laminated Veneer Lumber)
The benefits of Mass Timber are extensive (But not limited to);
As Mass Timber elements and building systems are manufactured off site this can lead to faster install periods reducing time & costs
Carbon Sequestration – As trees grow they sequent carbon through photosynthesis. The typical biogenic carbon within 1m3 of CLT is typically. 700kgs/m3 (A1-A3)
High Strength to Weight Ratio. Typical 4x that of Concrete. Reduce your foundation costs with lighter self-weight of the primary structure
Adaptability & Reusable. Mass Timber structures can be design and detailed to be demountable and re-used again after the building has reached its end of use
