CLT
CLT is produced by laminating several layers of solid timber at 90-degrees to each other, these layers are typically 20-60mm thick with overall panel thicknesses ranging between 60-320mm. Master panels can be produced up to 3.45m wide x 16m in length. CLT can be utilised in many different applications including Walls, Floors, Roofs and Stairs.
CLT can offer the following benefits;
Speed of Assembly – shorten your construction programme and reduces costs with ~30% faster construction than concrete alternatives
Carbon sequestration – as timber grows it sequents carbon through photosynthesis storing it within the timber for its lifetime
Various studies have shown that timber can reduce stress levels and increase productivity levels-perfect for educational and work environments
Made from solid timber sourced from sustainably managed European forests

GLULAM
Glulam or Glue Laminated Timber (GLT) is produced by laminating several layers of finger jointed timber boards to make up larger sections without the natural imperfections found within solid timber, beams can be produced in widths of 80-280mm, heights between 80-4000mm and lengths up to 40m+. Widths larger than 280mm are possible with block gluing – this is where sections are bonded together. Glulam can be supplied in several species including Spruce, Fir, Larch & Pine and in various structural grades all conforming with BS EN 14080.
GLT can be utilised in many different applications including columns, beams, struts and ties in assemblies such as trusses. Its versatility allows it to be produced in many differing profiles and shapes. We offer the supply of straight through to double curved or double tapered beams to suit your project’s needs.

LVL
LVL or Laminated Veneer Lumber is produced by peeling logs to form thin veneers and then bonding them together in either the same or alternating directions. This process means that natural imperfections get distributed though the section resulting in a more uniform material which can achieve high strengths and stiffnesses. LVL can be produced in dimensions of 2.4x24m up to 75mm thick. As with Glulam, LVL can be block glued to create thicker sections up to 350mm thick. LVL can be used as beams, columns, struts and ties.
LVL can offer many benefits;
LVL is incredibly strong relative to its weight —with bending strengths twice that of steel proportionate to its weight and five-times less dense than typical reinforced concrete
Prefabricated and delivered just in time (JIT) to reduce construction traffic and efficiency on site

DESIGN
STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING
Pre Construction Services
We can engage with you at early design stages to assist in de-risking your project. We provide pre construction services through RIBA Stages 2-3 assisting with developing the concept design, preliminary and detailed structural design and associated spatial coordination with architecture and services. We can fully cost the proposals and provide advice on procurement timelines. Our typical deliverables would include 3D model creation, 2D GA drawings and details, specifications, stage reports and advice.
Timber Engineering
We have in-house knowledge and expertise in timber engineering. If you procure your project with us we will take responsibility for providing element sizing, connection design and the associated analysis, calculations and reporting. We can also offer business to business services including CDP, timber engineering and connection design.
